Grade 8: We are finishing up the first act of the Magic Flute. By now students should have a good grasp of all the characters in the opera as well as basic plot points. Students should also have a basic understanding of terminology used in opera.

Grade 7: We are continuing learning about jazz using the performers as the gateway to understanding different genres. This marking period we have covered Ragtime through Scott Joplin, Louis Armstrong (who played many types of jazz), and are beginning to learn about Duke Ellington.

Grade 6: Students are continuing and hopefully finishing their instrument creation project. We will start presentations of our projects on March 22nd, so be ready!

Grade 5: Students are continuing their mastery of G, A, and B on the recorder. Students will also begin writing their own music for recorder using those notes. They will be responsible for the notation and performance of their piece.
